Attention U of M Students: The Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota is offering an internship for an advertising/marketing/communications (or related) student to work in our Advertising Review department. Interested students must have a keen interest in promoting ethics in the marketplace and be assertive, positive and be inquisitive by nature.

Position Details:

Title:  Advertising Review Intern
Dates:  12 Week Internship
Hours:  12 hours per week (flexible scheduling)

Duties:  Duties are selected based on the individual intern’s capabilities, talents and interest areas.  The BBB provides a list of possible projects and the intern will have choices in which tasks they will pursue.  Within the project, duties are likely to be in the areas of:
  • Industry Review and research
  • Participation in investigations and secret-shoppings
  • Active engagement in the advertising review program
  • Contact development/relationship building
  • Promotion and enhancement planning for department services and events

Interns can expect to be given:

  • Substantive, challenging and rewarding choices for projects
  • At least one “contact” in their field of interest 
  • A copy of projects completed for the BBB for use in their portfolio of example work

Desired Qualifications

  • Junior or Senior in college with position-related major
  • Interest in marketplace issues and promoting ethical business practices
  • Aptitude with computer and phone skills
  • Customer service job experience
